The Carer’s Association Mini-Marathon in Kilkenny took place on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May.
Proceeds from entry fees for the Kilkenny Mini-Marathon went to the Carer’s Association but participants could then seek sponsorship in aid of a charity of their choice. And an important point to note: the Kilkenny Mini-Marathon was open to all, not just women!
Speaking during a light training session at The Watershed in Kilkenny, Sonya Lanigan, Chairperson of the Susie Long Hospice Fund Committee said
“Susie Long was a great campaigner and a great woman. We’re calling on everyone in Kilkenny to come out and play their part to help us raise funds to build a hospice for the people of Kilkenny and Carlow. You don’t have to be a super athlete to take part in either of the mini-marathons. Lots of people walk it with groups of friends and it’s a great day out. Once you enter the mini-marathon, either in Dublin or Kilkenny, then get in touch with us and we’ll send you a sponsorship pack to get you started. The sponsorship raised will help us reach our target of EUR2million by 2010”.
Thank you to everyone who ran in the Kilkenny Mini-Marathon in support of the Susie Long Hospice Fund! |
